When bees swarm they tend to land in trees, here's some good pictures of bees who swarmed to a hedge

 

 

 

 

Sometimes they swarm into an old hive and build wild comb

 

They decided to move into an old hive I had and then build their comb straight down from the roof. In order to hive them we had to cut all these combs out and then tie them into standard frames. Unfortunately if we had left them they probably wouldn't have survived.

 

 

 

We mark the queen (green for 2009) and here she is with her attendants

 

You can see the queen quite clearly. You'll notice her abdomen is much longer and more pointed than her attendants
